I seen what happened and to be honest i only want to say this, it was a horrible tragedy, the boy was in bad shape, my nephew which is only 10 years old seen it too and I so wish i did not take him down there, the whole vibe of Comfest has changed and the festival goers are totally different than any other year I have been. I loved the fest in the past because of the love and free and happy atmosphere it created, but after witnessing this, and watching how it devastated others, i will never return and would never subject a child to this either…My prayers go out to the 18 yr. old child that was murdered at Comfest on Saturday at 8:10 pm, i prayed for your child all night, and it hurt to hear that he did not make it, my heart and prayers really go out to you during this time of loss…God Bless you!!!!

I really find it hard to believe that someone could stab themselves that many times especially severe enough to be fatal. Witnesses saw him wrestling and the other person was appologizing after Bryan Barbin was on the ground. Whatever happened my heart goes out to his mother and father. I have and will continue to pray for them.

I do feel very sad that this young mans choice cost him his life. The drug is an inanimate object though,I think it’s important to remember that. There are safer alternatives.

How is getting stabbed 5 times self inflicted?

it isn’t a political or policing issue .. it has to do with energy and will .. wild thoughts .. human stuff .. it sucks that it happened when and where it did .. but it could have been any where at any time .. obviously .. people are animals too .. and still strange things happen .. more information would be nice before making a strong opinion about the festival or the people that keep it going .. but people love to jump the gun .. anything they can get sometimes .. but .. maybe it is a sign that true libertarian thinking does not support the methods and goals of the obama administration .. federally run healthcare is a horrible idea .. i’m sorry this boy is dead .. though intense if it was a suicide ..

First killing in Goodale Park in a very long time. Time for the impetus and catalyst of this murder (comfest) to more on to more appropriate pastures.

I’ve been attending the comfest for 20- some years. One of the things that made/make it such a great event was the spirit of community that it has fostered.  I remember always being so elated that I felt safe there and that I was among like-minded and tolerant people. As early as three years ago I remember starting to feel a little less at ease as the size of the crowds grew. I don’t believe this tragedy has anything to do with anything the organizers could have done.  More people are attending. Period. More people that don’t know anything about the origins or intent of this event. In no way should this reflect on the comfest itself.

I am blown away that something like this could happen at Comfest. I feel for Bryans family.

Does anyone actually care that this was an 18 year old kid that died at Comfest? Shame on you for insulting him with your debate on this city. No one even knows who killed him, and his family and friends are forced to bury a son! I wish any of you cared half as much about what happened to him than, you do for your need to have the strongest opinion.

I hope anyone with any information on this will contact local law enforcement.
