MedFlight gets state-of-the-art technology that will help you get to a doctor faster.
MedFlight opens its new Communications Center in Columbus Wednesday, and its state-of-the-art technology likely will improve response time.
COLUMBUS, Ohio—“Hello. It’s Dusty with MedFlight.“
MedFlight opened its new Communications Center in Columbus Wednesday, and its state-of-the-art technology likely will improve response time.
The new center serves two-thirds of Ohio and will take more than 11,000 requests for service each year from first-responders, 911 centers and hospitals.
The new center means better technology that will allow dispatchers to communicate more quickly and effectively with agencies and flight crews.
The goal of that communication is to get the chopper off the ground fast.
The goal at MedFlight? From phone call to dispatch – one minute.
MedFlight’s Stewart Corbin said the time it took to process a phone call added to the delay.
Now, though, the old communications console has been replaced by a state-of-the-art system.
It’s technology that may enable faster response time.
“I believe we can streamline it and reduce the seconds by a small number,“ Corbin said.
The not-for-profit said the new center came at a cost of $500,000.
Dispatchers can move their desks to stand or sit during their 12-hour shifts. That allows for comfort and alertness.
There also are extra work centers in case of population growth or if certain specialties become popular in our area and smaller hospitals start sending more patients to those doctors.
It means getting patients to experts and treatment—even faster.
