Two men on fishing trip discover more than a dozen dead dogs dumped in a creek.
LOGAN COUNTY—Two men on a fishing trip discovered more than a dozen dead dogs Monday.
NBC 4’s Lauren Diedrich reported with the FAST FACTS Tuesday.
More than a dozen dead dogs were being taken to the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine Tuesday afternoon.
All of the carcasses were dumped in a creek in rural Logan County outside of Bellefontaine.
The dogs’ bodies were discovered by two men during a fishing trip, according to Joni Dailey with the Logan County Humane Society.
Several of the dogs were greyhounds and were skinned, Dailey said.
Investigators who have been working day and night were shocked and asked for the public’s help to find out who committed the crime.
The society continued the search Tuesday, but no more carcasses were found.
Investigators said they don’t know who did the dumping.
They suspected some of the animals were pets.
Investigators will continue to look into how the rural creek became a dumping ground for dead dogs.
If your pet has gone missing, the society asked you to send or bring a photo of the dog to the humane society at 2521 U.S. 68 N, Bellefontaine.
For more information, you can call the society at 937-593-4277.
