Jogger Discovers Body On Olentangy’s West Shore

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Columbus police have pulled a body out of the Olentangy River Monday afternoon.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Monday.

CPD confirmed officers were on the scene and pulled a body out of the river close to 1:20 p.m.

The location was between Third Avenue and Spring Street on the river’s west shore. The body was found on the border of Columbus and Grandview; both police departments will be investigating.

A jogger on the bike path running along Olentangy River Road found the body.

Chief Kiser with Grandview police told NBC 4 a male body was found. The body was frozen onto some wood on the riverbank.

There wasn’t any identification on the body.

Kiser said the man had been dead for quite some time as shown by the body’s decomposition.

Kiser said it was likely the found body was a homeless person but won’t know for sure until an autopsy is completed and a positive ID is made.
   
Homicide was called to the scene.
