SAN JOSE, Costa Rica—Eddie Gaven’s goal in the fifth minute lifted the Columbus Crew to a 1-0 win over Costa Rica’s Saprissa on Wednesday in a CONCACAF Champions League match.

The victory in the Group C match gives Columbus six points in three games. Mexico’s Cruz Azul leads the group with seven points. Saprissa, the only team from Costa Rica in the tournament, has three points in three games.
