Wife Shot In Chest While Couple In Bed

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Police continued to investigate an unusual shooting Wednesday.

A Springfield man said he accidentally shot his wife in the chest while they were having sex.

Timothy Havens, 38, called 911 Sunday after he said he and his estranged wife were in bed and his wife was shot. 

Havens said he tossed a .38-caliber revolver off the bed and the gun discharged, striking his wife in the chest.

Carolyn Havens remained in critical condition.

Havens was arrested and charged with violating a civil protection order in connection to the shooting. He was held on a $75,000 bond. Court records showed he served 60 days in jail for assaulting his wife and violating a protection order in October.

Police said it was Carolyn's gun and both adults have permits to carry concealed weapons.
