ASHVILLE, Ohio—A hardware store was burglarized, and authorities took three people, including two juveniles, into custody the same day.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Ashville Hardware at 286 Long St. was burglarized overnight Tuesday, and authorities said an undetermined number of firearms were stolen.

Ashville police and the Pickaway County sheriff’s office arrested three suspects in connection with the crime, and Detective Jeff George told NBC 4 two of the suspects are juveniles.

One or more of the suspects used a concrete block to smash through the front glass and then smashed the handgun case, authorities said.

Firearms were on the floor when authorities were called to the scene close to 1 a.m. Tuesday. Ammunition was not stolen.

Authorities said the hardware store also was burglarized about a year ago, and firearms were taken during that crime, too.

Authorities did not release information on whether the firearms were recovered.

The suspects were scheduled for arraignment Wednesday morning.

Detectives continued to investigate.

Maumi - I agree!  The punishment should fit the crime, be age appropriate, and should also depend on the type of criminal record that they already have.

I agree Patriots (especially in this case w/no issued ages), although I don’t think we can pinpoint nor truly explain all aspects of criminal activities.  I feel all bad behavior deserves some sort of punishment, yet it should fit the crime, be age apropriate and provide guidance towards how and why we have rules and procedures for consequences when rules are not followed.

They didn’t steal candy or clothes, they stole guns! From what I can tell from the story that is all they took. If they were thinking like children and were as naive as everyone wants to believe they were they would probably have taken something else as well. I believe they knew what they were doing and they knew it was wrong. Thank god they were caught before they were able to use the guns to do something a little more serious. I would rather they have a record of being punished for stealing then not punishing them and letting them off easy and having to read about them killing someone down the line. All because they were not punished and taught a lesson from their earlier crimes.
People don’t start their life of crime by killing people, they start their life of crime by committing crimes like this.

I agree with the comments.  But do you really think that a kid that broke into a place and stole something deserves to be put in an adult prison and possibly be killed by an murderer in prison?  I know, it’s something they should have thought about before committing the crime, right?  Kids don’t think like adults!

yep, that is a positive idea.  Then when we are elders all the individuals running our country will be excons, due to the fact that bad behavior is not always the parents fault.  Sometimes unruly children are born.  I know that seems unreal to some, but it’s true.

It depends on how old these juveniles are and what their juvenile records look like before this incident. If they have lengthy juvenile records whatever punishment they have had in the past obviously didn’t work. If this is the case I say throw them in jail for a while. They want to smash and grab like the big boys then they should get a punishment like the big boys.

Does anyone think these juveniles should be bound over and tried as adults and placed in an ADULT prison with murderers?  It happens in Pickaway County!

It’s time parents take responsibility for their kids! Too many parents want to be “friends” or “cool parents” instead of the ones to teach “right and wrong” and instill consequences for their actions.  Too many parents think that their local school system should do their parenting for them so they don’t have to be the “bad guy” or disciplinarian. Maybe the parents should share the cell with their “little angels”.
Maybe the parents should

That is not always the case.  Children vary when it comes to thier ideas, characterisitcs, demeanors and etc.  Most of the time children are misunderstood and act out for some type of attention they desire.  Parents vary as well and are not always able to provide what it is that thier particular child needs. (I a in no way claiming they are a bad parent)
Parenting is difficult and I applaud all parents that go above and beyond to make effort towards raising a positive productive child. Although, not every parent is going to get the results they desire.  These parents need to keep thier head up and do the best to support thier child throught everything with encouragement.
We as a society need to stop cutting on each other and provide more support and positive encouragement towards one another. I know that it is not an easy task as we all face stressful times, but think about it, while one individual faces a stressful time another comes by with encouragement to assist with the other individuals day. This is paid forward, and has astounding results as I am a firm believer on how encouragement decreases occurances of negative activities in our society.  I am not saying that everyone is suppose to be friends and take care of each others children. I guess I am saying that we all need to try as hard as we can to be the most positive individual we can be each day.  This behavior will rub off on our children whom are the foundation of our future. And maybe some type of foundation based on morals, values and respect can be structured for thier future.

Police can’t catch or see everything, maybe this business needs to install a good surveillance system since this isn’t the first time this has happened.
