COLUMBUS, Ohio—Four people were arrested in connection with an alleged money counterfeiting operation on Friday.

The three-week investigation ended with four arrests on Hilton Avenue on the city’s west side, NBC 4 reported.

Deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s office found $5, $10, and $20 bills that had been spent at local stores, including Dollar General stores and Speedway gas stations.

Bobby Hunt, 22, and 18-year-old Kalen McCormick were charged with forgery.

Two women were also arrested, but it is unclear if any charges will be filed against them.

“They will be returned over to the feds, Secret Service and we are also looking for other victims that have these type of bills that are floating around. They need to contact the sheriff’s office and let us know so we can confiscate these bills,“ said Zac Scott, of the Franklin County Sheriff’s office.

It’s believed that the bills were printed on a home computer.

The money will now be turned over to the Secret Service.

“They will be returned over to the feds”

“these type of bills”

That’s our sheriff’s department!

Gertie5sons…
If only that were true!  In actuality, they’ll do 6-8 months at best (they’re still young and impressionable…therefore rehabilitatable if that’s a word) and will only have done enough time to learn how to counterfeit in ways less easily discernable!
However, I DO like your optimism!

not much different then what the white house is doing. the should have called it a stimulus package and maybe they would all be voted into office.

Knowledge & Technology ??? Give Me a BREAK !! these idiots were just copying onto regular paper the same bills over and over again. To call it Counterfeiting is an insult. They were IDIOTS ... Just about every year somebody gets caught doing this. But why waste Sheriff’s time when it is a Federal matter that will be prosecuted in Federal Court ? Let feds handle investigation and save local taxpayers the time and money spent on all the Deputies.

This is not the 1st bit of trouble these people have been into.  They are a terror to the neighborhood and we are all glad they are gone now. Goodbye and Good Riddins!!!!!!!

By the time these guys get out of jail, they will wish they had never seen a computer. But if you’re broke and you print money like that, it would be very difficult to resist the temptation not to use it. Play time is over now guys.

Maumi….PLEASE believe I’m saying this in the spirit of lightheartedness, but you really need to get out more!

I bought a printer through a local store for $325.00.  It was an inkjet, not even a laser…and as a test for my own knowledge, I printed a couple of both old and new 10/$20.00 bills - then I asked a friend if he could distinguish the real from the counterfeit.  Of course he picked the real ones out, but not instantly!  It took some REAL looking!  (and just to be sure the record is straight, it is NOT against the law to photocopy money.  It is against the law to circulate or attempt to circulate it.  That was never my intent, and we burned the counterfeit ones.  But we could have just as easily taken them to a poorly lit bar some night and passed them off (fingerprints and all) if that was our intent.  Believe me, any 18 year old sophisticated enough to turn on the machine has enough expertise to be able to do the same thing this one allegedly did.
Cheers!!

OMG McCormick is still a child, how in the world ddid these kids have the knowledge and technology to pull off bills that the stores actually took. This is the end for them, that was definitely the wrong choice to make kiddo.
