COLUMBUS, Ohio—A man’s body was found in a pickup truck in North Linden Sunday morning, and his family is looking for answers.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

CPD was dispatched to the alley behind 1607 Myrtle Ave. on reports of a body.

Police found a man’s body inside a purple Ford pickup truck at about 10 a.m. Sunday.

Family members identified the victim as 30-year-old Carlos De La Cruz.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots Saturday night but said that’s not uncommon.

The address is listed and tagged by the city of Columbus as a vacant house.

No one knows how long the truck was in the back yard.

One resident said they thought they might have seen the vehicle before but could not say whether or not they knew or had seen the victim before.

De La Cruz’ family told NBC 4 they need to know what happened to their loved one.

De La Cruz is father to three children and was a good-hearted person, family said.

“It’s really rough dealing with it, today, because, we don’t have all the answers yet. We’d really like to know what really happened,” his sister-in-law Melinda Soriano said.

The family said they are trying to send De La Cruz’ body back to Mexico for burial, where his wife and three children live.

Authorities have not confirmed the victim’s identity.

Investigators continued to work the case.

Anyone with information on the city’s 54th homicide of 2009 was asked to call Columbus police at 614-645-4730.
