UPDATE: CPD identifies a body that was found in a near East Side alley Tuesday morning.
COLUMBUS, Ohio—A couple walking their dog found a body in a near East Side alley early Tuesday, and homicide detectives continued to investigate.

A couple walking their dog found a man’s body in an alley near Shoemaker and Peters avenues at about 3:35 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
CPD was called to the scene on an unknown trouble call. Officers found 22-year-old Tywan Lamont Saunders in the rear of 1103 Peters Avenue. He was unresponsive upon arrival.
Saunders had one gunshot wound to his abdomen, a police report said.
Detectives found shell casings north of the body’s original location.
The time of the shooting remained unclear, and police couldn’t confirm how long the body had been in the alley.
CPD did not have any motive or suspects in the city’s 68th homicide of 2009.
