CPD Investigates Late-Night Shooting

Columbus homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that happened late Sunday on the city’s East Side.
COLUMBUS, Ohio—Columbus homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting overnight on the city’s east side.
According to investigators, just before 11 p.m. Sunday, an officer near the 1200 block of Brookway Road heard gunshots.
Shortly thereafter, a 911 call was made to Columbus police indicating a shooting in the area.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in his 20s in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds.
Victim Charles Ragland III was taken to Grant Medical Center.
Ragland died at the hospital overnight Monday.
While at the scene, patrol officers were tipped that the suspects were in a nearby apartment.
SWAT officers were called to the scene, and NBC 4 was there as two individuals were apprehended.
The two suspects were apprehended without incident and taken to CPD headquarters for questioning.
Investigators said they believe the shooting stemmed from some kind of altercation.
Animal control was called out to handle a pit bull.
