Columbus Crime: Good & Bad News

COLUMBUS, Ohio – According to FBI crime statistics, there is some good news and bad news when it comes to crime in Columbus. 

NBC 4 gives you the FAST FACTS.

The statistics show some violent crimes, such as rape and armed robbery, were down 7.6 percent in 2008.

While those crimes dropped off, homicides increased from 79 in 2007 to 109 in 2008.

Property crimes—such as thefts, auto thefts and arson—decreased.

Burglaries were up nearly 2 percent. There were 279 additional break-ins reported in 2008 compared to 2007.
