This afternoon police locked down 5 ( I believe that is correct) Olentangy Schools as robber running aorund Africa Rd - crazy times in the Central OH area!
In response to Jltenorth’s post, I am hoping that NBC4 posts correct information soon regarding the address. I am actually the President of the Devonshire Civic Association (your neighborhood - and mine). I am sorry that you and your family had to also go through a traumatic time regarding this situation but it never seems to end, no matter where you live. The best that we can do is be vigilant about our surroundings and keep an eye out for suspicious people in the neighborhood and report them to the police IMMEDIATELY!
Is there any further information clarifying any of this? I live across from the home where they were apprehended, and hid my baby and 2 year old for an hour and a half while I saw officers with guns drawn, the SWAT team, and MANY police cars, only to have no idea what happened! The address is incorrect and our leasing office told us a different story about what had happened. I’m just hoping SOMEONE can pass on the facts for me! I’d really like to know how my neighbors were involved. Please post some follow-up information and clarify the incorrect information. Thank you! To DCA-Prez- I feel ya! Thank you for fighting to take back your neighborhood. Was the break-in in your neighborhood and they fled to ours? Thanks.
The address currently posted is totally incorrect. This household was NOT involved in this incident. The publishing of this address is an error on the part of the news team.
The station has been contacted about this error. Hopefully, it will be corrected as soon as possible.
I’m not sure, but I think the address given is where the criminals were apprehended, not where the crime actually occured. Hopefully, the victims are alright! Many times reports do not state the current status of the victims (for some of the reasons mentioned in the other posts), but mostly for privacy sake. This had to be a terrible ordeal to go through for these folks…
jpenfound - I did not say anything about identifying the vicitims, I simply stated no mention was given on their condition. A simple statement such as “no information on the victim’s condition” would at least indicate a concern in that direction, but that wasn’t given. In addtion, if they do want their identity kept hidden, maybe the address should not have been provided. But thanks for your opinion, anyway.
Susang - the report was pretty soon after the incident, so perhaps no information was available. Also, some victims do not want their information out there….if any harm had been done, I’m sure NBC would’ve reported it. Although, I’m sure their mental state is not what it was!
Okay, all is well and good and the bad guys got caught. But what about the victims here? Is everyone okay? Did no one think to ask about their well-being? This would be a horrible thing to go through and no one thought to report their condition?
Don’t give up hope! We can always make a difference by being diligent and banding together to curb crime in our area. This is why we are beginning to reorganize our Block Watch program in Devonshire again. If interested in participating, please attend our next BW meeting on Wednesday (09/09/09) at 7:00 pm at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
10-4 - full extent of the law - no wrist-slapping! I live in Sharon Woods subdivision, so I am concerned, too. Let’s get these people off the street already. Of course, there are so many bars and liquor establishments around, and that isn’t good for the neighborhood either. The restaurants are leaving, and the bars coming in. Perhaps - time to move???
