COLUMBUS, Ohio—Two people were injured after police said drive-thru clerks fired shots at supposed robbers. It was but the clerks, though, who ended up with criminal charges.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at the Qwik N Cold Drive-Thru at Westerville and Agler roads around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. That’s on the city’s Northeast Side.

Initial reports police received from on-duty clerks 22-year-old Ahmed Osman and 20-year-old Muhammed Ali reported a robbery or shooting in which a clerk shot an alleged robbery suspect who was armed with a knife.

An investigation revealed no robbery took place and no one was threatened with a knife.

The robbery story was fabricated by a clerk, CPD said.

Osman and Ali attempted to stop a perceived theft of beer by firing “warning” shots at the feet of the alleged suspects, CPD said.

Two of the alleged suspects were injured by bullet fragments.

Both sustained minor injuries and were treated and released.

Both clerks were charged criminally.

Osman was charged with falsification and negligent assault.

Ali was charged with negligent assault.

I don’t agree with the whole shoot them over beer situation. But down here on the South End, the store up the street has been robbed so many times the CPD told the guy who owns the joint to just start shooting them.

Oh, I agree with true cases of self defense and robbery. (I’ve been held up at gunpoint myself in the past.) But from the moment the story first broke last night, there was some doubt to the story the cleks gave and a poster wanted to turn them loose with more ammo. (The only thing that was known was the color of the victims. The poster jumped to conclusion that the clerks WERE being robbed.)

It was either this business or the next one over where a clerk was shot and killed during a robbery attempt last year. That clerk even gave up the money and got shot anyways. I know it’s wrong for these clerks to shoot at somebody, but I can understand why they need to carry firearms in this area.

I dont know Buckimion, but I do think clerks, as well as everyone, should have a fair chance to defend themselves. They should have all of the bullets they need. Criminals like these are going to have guns in any case.

Let them do their time and then ship these two geniuses back to the Middle East.
