COLUMBUS, Ohio—Two Columbus women said they were abducted at gunpoint over the weekend, but authorities said the incident was fabricated.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Alischa Coverdale, 22, and Angel McCallister, 17, told authorities they were kidnapped by two men.

The females, who said they are friends, claimed they were kidnapped at 9 a.m. Saturday from an area near Parsons and Southwood avenues on the city’s South Side.

They said two black males forced them into a green vehicle of unknown make and model and told them they were headed for West Virginia to be prostitutes.

The females said they were held against their will for hours before they were able to escape their captors at a Buckeye Lake gas station.

Columbus police and the Licking County sheriff’s office started an investigation Saturday.

Authorities said investigators uncovered evidence that disproved the abduction allegations.

They were arrested by CPD and taken to the Franklin County jail early Tuesday morning.

Coverdale and McCallister were charged with falsification and misleading a public official.

sandyb - This is a place to post comments and opinions and I am simply doing that. If you don’t like the opinions of others don’t participate.

“Move on with your own life and leave these people to theirs” - They didn’t seem to care too much about other people and their lives when they made this “mistake”.

Actually, Patriot, I believe that coverdale1985 used that word in its proper manner. By definition:
mistake-
a wrong action attributable to bad judgment

I am new to this type of blogging, but it appears that for the most part, this is a place where those who think that they are better than others can judge without being judged themselves. I believe the saying is “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.
These girls did commit a crime and it appears as if they will suffer the consequences for it. Move on with your own life and leave these people to thiers.

BTW, what this woman did was not a mistake, this was deliberately done to just bring attention to herself.

coverdale1985 - Your cousin is an idiot! How else would you explain why she did what she did? What a complete waste of resources and taxpayers money. She should have to pay back every dime that it costs the city to look into this idiotic game that she played.

I don’t know anyone in this story or their family, but as an outsider looking in I can confidently say, had she been acting as a responsible mother she would not have put herself in this situation. A responsible mother knows that every action that they take can effect their children, she clearly was not thinking about her child when she pulled this.

Kenzies (so called) step mommy. Why dont you stop trying to act like you are some kind of saint. Everyone makes mistakes big, or small so who the fu*k are you to act like you are better than my cousin. Stop trying to shine, and talk sh*t to make yourself feel better about your pathetic life you are not and will NEVER be as strong as a Coverdale woman (Mike Coverdale)

Kenzies Mommy, these two are idiots.  This was a stupid thing to do, there is no excuse whatsoever for it.  The fact that not only she did this but if that is true about her one phone call then that proves she’s an idiot

Its very disturbing to me that MY 3 year old step daughter had to see her “MOTHER” on the news for such a stupid reason, you see it at first and think Oh my this really happened? And then to see that she really lied about all of this but for what a few minutes of attention?? Why in the world is a 22 year old hanging with a 17 year old?? And the girls mom was ok with it too??Alischa used her ONE phone call to tell her mom to record everything they showed about her on the news so she could watch it when she got out!! And this is the kind of woman that Im expected to turn this child over to??

You Know the rally sad thing is, I AM THE STEP MOM TO THE 22YEAR OLDS 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER… SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO GET THE BABY ON FRIDAY THE 19TH.. IF SHE HAD BEEN THERE TO GET HER MY BABYGIRL WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL OF THIS!! ITS NO SUPRISE TO ME THAT SHE WOULD PULL SOMETHING LIKE THIS, BUT SHE SHOULD BE PUNISHED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!! IF SHE WOULD STOP BAR HOPING AND WORRYING ABOUT ALL THESE MEN AND TAKE CARE OF HER CHILD NONE OF THIS WOULD OF EVEN HAPPENED!!

BRO’s & BUBBA’s, funny! Sounds like a bar I wouldn’t want to go to.
That 22 year old needs to hang with her “legal” friends and the let the 17 year old finish growing up a few more years.
On behalf of women everywhere, let me apologize for these two of our gender. They clearly are a weak link for us.
