COLUMBUS, Ohio—Two Columbus women said they were abducted at gunpoint over the weekend, but authorities said the incident was fabricated.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Alischa Coverdale, 22, and Angel McCallister, 17, told authorities they were kidnapped by two men.
The females, who said they are friends, claimed they were kidnapped at 9 a.m. Saturday from an area near Parsons and Southwood avenues on the city’s South Side.
They said two black males forced them into a green vehicle of unknown make and model and told them they were headed for West Virginia to be prostitutes.
The females said they were held against their will for hours before they were able to escape their captors at a Buckeye Lake gas station.
Columbus police and the Licking County sheriff’s office started an investigation Saturday.
Authorities said investigators uncovered evidence that disproved the abduction allegations.
They were arrested by CPD and taken to the Franklin County jail early Tuesday morning.
Coverdale and McCallister were charged with falsification and misleading a public official.

I have to add this. They should get 6 extra months for blaming it on the “BROS”. No “Bro” is going to be on S Parsons and be caught DEAD with two like these. Two “Bubbas” that story we might have bought and car being a old Chevy or F150 pick up.
GOLD TRIM!!! AHAHAHAHA, PERFECT!!!!! :D
No jello, I was picturing a green sparkling cadillac with gold trim and 40” wheels with rubber band looking tires
People should really think before doing stupid things like this. These girls not only have their names in the local media for doing this but think about it, after they serve their sentence with the courts this incident will be stapled to any job application they might ever fill out. Who would want a prospective employer to read something like this about them? This is going to follow them now
I just have to know, why would you do this? What possible gain do you get from making up a story like this? Also, they are lying to police and investigators, didn’t they think these people would see holes in their story? This is just stupid
What inconsiderate little brats! These girls need to repay everything back that it cost the state to look into this! Including the gas that it cost to come get their stupid butts! Not to mention some punitive damages on top of it. They should also make a public apology for the trouble that they caused. What a complete waste of time and money for everyone involved.
My hunch is it was a combination of booze, drugs, and sex.
No jail time because that costs us money and takes up room for housing more violent criminals. Community service - losts and lots and lots of community service and pay costs of police time investigating. Apologies to their families and community for causing undue anxiety over what falsely happened to them. Counseling to help them sort out their heads. Keep your mind and hands busy doing something productive. Too much time on their hands for thinking up this scheme.
Yeh, make them pay the costs of the police department for their fraudulent acts.“ Do you think they have any money? The 15 year old that crashed a stolen car in Bexley - one killed, 3 taken to Children’s Hospital. Who do you think is going to pay those hospital bills? I guess we need another telethon.
I would guess they were partying when the 17 yr old was suppose to be home, and they needed an excuse for being gone. I find it pathetic to blame innocent individuals of any race by making up a story. They need to know that this type of behavior is unacceptable by the public and the courts.
