CPD is looking for a suspect who allegedly fired a shot at a Columbus police officer late Monday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio—A suspect allegedly fired a shot at a Columbus police officer late Monday.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

CPD Officer Brian Steel stopped several individuals for alleged jaywalking at about 11:01 p.m. in the area of East 24th Avenue, east of Medina Avenue.

That’s on the city’s near North Side in the South Linden area.

Two of the individuals stopped, and a third person started running from Steel, CPD said.

Steel pursued the third individual, southbound between the houses from East 25th and Medina avenues.

The suspect ran between 1285 and 1289 E. 24th Ave. and started jumping a fence.

As Steel approached the suspect, the suspect fired one shot at him and fled the area, CPD said.

The suspect was described as a black male who is taller than 6 feet. He was wearing dark shorts and carrying a dark-colored shirt.

Anyone with information was asked to call Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
