COLUMBUS, Ohio—Police asked for the public’s help after an elderly man was beaten and carjacked on the city’s near Northeast Side.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
A 77-year-old man exited a market at 900 E. 5th Ave. and was returning to his vehicle at 7:29 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
Columbus police said two teenage suspects approached the man as he was getting into his vehicle.
One of the suspects displayed a firearm and demanded his car keys, police said.
The victim was hit in the head; he attempted to defend himself.
One of the suspects sped away in the man’s vehicle, and the other suspect fled the scene on foot, police said.
The suspects were described as black males in their late teens.
Anyone with information on the crime was asked to call CPD’s robbery squad at 614-645-4665 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.

You were mocking Lmath for her response to bigdaddyoldman, who said that these kids deserved to be shot during the robbery. I can only assume you would mock because you reject the premise of her rebuking (that is that these kids don’t deserve to die for this) which leaves me no other option than to assume you want them dead. Is that inaccurate?

You bring up a very good point and something I always find interesting about those calling for stronger sentences for these perps. The long they spend in jail A) The more time they spend with other criminals as opposed to positively influential society and B) They sit around in a cell and get food and better healthcare than we have and on our tax dollar. It seems to me that these long jail sentences simply aren’t cutting it, neither for punishment or for reform. Not sure I have any easy fix to suggest but surely we can do better than this?
I cannot understand how anyone can say “society failed them!“ These punks made bad choices and deserve punishment. The thing that bugs me most is now we are going to have to support these punks with our tax money while they sit in jail and watch TV all day.

Are you suggesting that the appropriate punishment for Grand theft auto and mugging is the death penalty? So they are criminals and deserve to go to jail, and if they are caught, they will. Are there any crimes, in your opinion that don’t warrant death?
right on, Lmath! It is not these kids fault! The society failed them! They are just innocent victims of our (since we are part of this society) neglect! And I am sure they were good kids on the way of correcting their lives and they deserve a second chance! (or maybe a third chance if this is not their first time… or forth chance… or fifth… anyway they deserved it!)
Big Rick, I totally agree with you; however, the comment I responded to was horrific. The victim would have been perfectly justified to defend himself but for bigdaddyoldman to say that he wishes those punks to be shot and killed, i think is very hateful and I don’t think that much hatred is good for our society.
Lmath, self defense is not murder. I don’t wish anyone dead, but these kids are little thugs and a long jail term should await them. What can be done to stop young black men from thinking crime is the answer? We have prisons full of these kinds of kids that seem to commit crimes in numbers at a greater percentage than they represent in the population as a whole. When is the president going to address black on black crime in a way only he can? These kids may have thrown away any chance of a decent future for the cheap thrill of robbing an old man.

I hope you don’t have any kids because if you raise children that have the same mentally as you, it certainly will not help our society at all. These kids had no business attacking this man (old or young) but your comment makes me wonder what kind of crimes you are capable of committing. No one deserves to be victim of any crime especially not murder. You might wanna think twice before you make such horrible comments.
