Reward Issued For Tips In Cold Case Shooting
Authorities are asking for help to solve a cold case that happened nearly 15 years ago in the Linden Area.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities are asking for help to solve a cold case that happened nearly 15 years ago in the Linden Area.
On October 15, 1995, Larry Gossett was shot and killed shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Blake Avenue in Columbus.
A companion, Daniel Martin, was also shot and lost a leg in the assault.
Investigators say the heavily-armed, masked attackers were not after cash. Instead, they told two females in the group they could leave. The women ran off before the shots were fired.
Investigators say Gossett and his friend were targeted for some other reason by just being in a territory where they should not have been according to “gang rules.“
Investigators said they believe one or more of the people involved could already be in jail or may have moved out of the area. This would allow a witness to come forward without fear of retribution.
Police believe there were at least three suspects involved in the crime.
Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of as much as $2,000 for any information received by Sept. 9, 2009, that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of the person(s) responsible for the crime.
Anyone with information about the crime was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477) or e-mail at http://www.stopcrime.org. You also can text a tip to “CRIMES” or 274637 with a keyword of TIP125.
