Ex-Trooper Of Year Charged With Drunk Driving
Published: November 10, 2009
LIMA, Ohio—A state trooper in northwest Ohio who was once honored for making the most DUI arrests has been charged with drunken driving.
A patrol spokesman says Gerald Gibson has taken a leave following his arrest last weekend.
He was most recently an investigator at the Allen Correctional Institution.
Gibson was off duty when police in the town of Waynesfield say he drifted left of center and then refused to take a breath test.
He was named 2002 trooper of the year in Lima and Mothers Against Drunk Driving honored him in 1997 for making the most drunken-driving arrests by a Lima trooper.
A message seeking comment was left with Gibson’s attorney, William Kluge.

Who better to recognize a drunk driver, than another drunk driver? A drunk driver with the authority to arrest all others just like him!
Another example of troopers not following the rules they are paid to enforce. I’m glad my tax dollars are going to good use.
Have we found the bottom yet for the Highway Patrol????? I certainly hope some good news about them starts to make the news again.
What a great example he is setting. This guy deserves to loose his job.
According to statistics people, on the average, drive over 200 times impaird before they get a DUI.
I wonder how many times he has drove drunk while being on duty,he will most likely get a slap on the hand and all charger dropped
people just dont understand, the laws dont apply to cops or troopers.
