COLUMBUS, Ohio—A teenage suspect was arrested after a double shooting on the city’s East Side Tuesday night.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Thursday.

A large group of people were involved in a physical altercation in front of 831 Oakwood Ave. at about 7:56 p.m. Tuesday, according to police reports.

As the group was fighting, a male walked by and shot at the group, CPD said.

A 15-year-old female was struck in the shoulder. She was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

David Banks, 46, also was struck in the leg. Banks was transported to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.

Based on information acquired by detectives during an investigation, the shooting suspect was identified as 18-year-old Dequise Jackson.

CPD arrested Jackson without incident and charged him with felonious assault.

NBC 4 reported Wednesday a child had been shot in the chest. CPD released new incident details Thursday.

Is anyone who knows Dequise really surprised?  He can make you laugh harder than Bernie Mac, but…... he did get busted with a gun at school in the 8th grade.  Why wasn’t intervention taken at that point in time?  Why did America vote for stupid George Bush who spent trillions on a war abroad when we have war here, among our own.  If that money was used for schools and better programs we would read about these things as much.  Believe it or not, Dequise is a likeable kid; but not enough people helped him from being devoured by the streets.

Dequise should be locked up forever.  When he gets out he will do this again until he kills someone.  He has a small brain.

Dequise Jackson might as well be put down now and save a future shooting/murder, which is inevitable from him.

If somebody gets shot in Worthington or Dublin, then that is news. If somebody gets shot in the cesspool of the east side, who cares? That’s how those people live - its part of their culture. When they interview these people, they can barely speak or even reason. Too many generations of this have resulted in a hopeless mess.

This is only the beginning to the end of a safe life in Columbus. These incidents are going to be regular news come summer. And just think Coleman is going to get rid of the Gang Unit,Freeway Unit, and a handful of other investigative personnel. Oh I forgot the swat team 200 cops and fireman. So if you think we are under seige now.. oh it has only begun!! The homicide rate can only go up. The people getting shot aren’t going to get the police response or medical attention. How could they? These men and women can barely keep us safe now. Sounds like an easy solution….Move!!!!

Here we have a person whose conduct resulted in a lot of taxpayer money being spent on police, emergency squad to take the injured to the hospital etc.  The City has floated the idea of charging for police and fire responses to vehicle accidents - but why not first apply that to these gang bangers.

Then there is the cost of hospital care if these victims are uninsured, or perhaps Medicaid funds if not.  Again, why not try to get that from Dequise.

How about dropping the shop jargon and write like real journalists do?

I’m talking about things like “2x” shooting, and “ax” when the correct word is “accident”.  And “4” is a numeral denoting quantity, not a substitute for “for”.
