ASHVILLE, Ohio—A hardware store was burglarized overnight, and authorities said an undetermined number of firearms were stolen.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Ashville Hardware at 286 Long St. was burglarized overnight Tuesday, and Ashville officers and Ohio’ Bureau Of Criminal Identification & Investigation continued to investigate.

One or more suspects used a concrete block to smash through the front glass and then smashed the handgun case.

Firearms were on the floor when authorities were called to the scene close to 1 a.m.

An inventory check was being completed to determine the correct amount of stolen firearms.

Ammunition was not stolen.

“It’s very concerning cause you don’t know who might have the handguns—what they might be used for. Or if they are out on the streets. Kids could get a hold of them. It’s a very big concern for us,” Ashville detective Jeffrey George said.

Authorities said the hardware store also was burglarized about a year ago, and firearms were taken during that crime, too.

Detectives continued to investigate and were reviewing surveillance video from area businesses.

I happened to reread the comments on this story.  I don’t believe I said I was perfect.  I hope you have learned from your mistakes.  My point however was….everyone has a personal responsibility for their own lives. They make the choice to do the right thing or not.  btw I was referring to the mother that shot up her 14 yr old daughter with drugs.  So, think before you blast another poster.

Maumi, thank you for the support and motivation to keep on moving forward with my life in a positive direction. Yes i grew up around drugs and a life i regret. However I have made it out of that life. Its good to hear that someone i dont even know supports people like us. I am 21 years old and am very educated. I made mistakes but have lofted away from them, so thank you. You sound educated and know whats really going on. I also agree with you on your top comment. These kids need support more than anything, theyre young and will not be locked up the rest of there life. SO when they hit the streets, they definitely need all the support they can get. In jail and out here on the streets. Once again thank you for your motivation, it truly means alot to me.

It is good they got them off the street, now all they need to do, (as well as family, friends and community) is provide support so these individuals can maintian their sobriety in order to contribute positively towards the city of Ashville.

First of all I want to defend the Ashville P.D.  I think we have the best police force we have had in many years.  Being a niteowl, I notice how often the Police patrol our street every single nite and it makes me feel safe.  Secondly, I must ask, did the police respond to the alarm system or did IT fail?  And last but not least, the drug bust was not PETTY.  They got a few of the people hooked on OXY and Heroin off the streets for awhile.  They can only do what the law and court system allow them to.

566210, don’t let the negative opinions of others steer you to negativity.  You have turned your life towards a positive direction and I commend you for that.  Most individuals that say drugs and alcohol aren’t an excuse and whatnot, have no experience of what it’s like to be in that type of environment nor situation.  I don’t condone the behavior, although I know that it takes a tremendous amount of strength and support to clean oneself up and maintain sobriety.  Just remember that people like you are the reason that there is hope for our future, especially when you are able to spread the knowledge of how you overcame with a positive method.  Please keep your head up and do not allow for others to taunt you into a negative mode. :0)

What’s the latest on this story? I thought I heard that they had arrested 2-3 juveniles? Court dates? Any of the handguns recovered?

Aville gma-I took responsibility for my actions and if you have lived in Ashville for a while then you know about me, Im not saying that you are wrong with your views. I agree, drugs breeds violence. Drugs are bad. People know this. I honestly think, if parents would raise their children like they did in your time. Alot of people wouldnt have been in the situation they are in now. However i stand by my last post to terry because his argument was irrelevant to the whole story. That is a biased opinion. “TRASH”??? Who in there right mind would even have the authority to call someone another name. Okay back to the subject matter. These kids were wrong, point blank period. I personally know one of them that has been emancipated since age 12. That means he had to learn on his own. People are gonna naturally make mistakes, some worse than others. I just hope that this experience will teach them better. ohio dpt of REHABILITATION and correction?? More like orc, The ohio prisons are overcrowded and that makes individual attention naturally hard. Something needs to be done with this or the recidivism rate is gonna continue to skyrocket. Its hard to get a job as a felon. Thank God, after countless applications and 7 months later, I finally landed a job. Too many people give up and thats why so many people are in the streets commiting felonys. They were wrong, yes, should they be judged by people that dont know them, no. my opinion stands the same.

Thanks for the agreement Terry.  I have no clue what the other poster was babbling about however I stand by my earlier post.  It’s a shame when people use the excuse that I don’t understand the younger generation and the problems they face.  They are weak whiners that want to blame others instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. “It’s tough growing up now.“ boohoo

Okay terry you can have your opinions, and i dont disagree with anyone, but your talk is irrelevant to the situation and really who cares what you think. Youre the same one who was calling people trash. I think you have probles with yourself. Thats my opinion.
