Authorities: Firearms Stolen From Hardware Store
An Ashville hardware store is burglarized overnight, and authorities say an undetermined number of firearms were stolen.
ASHVILLE, Ohio—A hardware store was burglarized overnight, and authorities said an undetermined number of firearms were stolen.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Ashville Hardware at 286 Long St. was burglarized overnight Tuesday, and Ashville officers and Ohio’ Bureau Of Criminal Identification & Investigation continued to investigate.
One or more suspects used a concrete block to smash through the front glass and then smashed the handgun case.
Firearms were on the floor when authorities were called to the scene close to 1 a.m.
An inventory check was being completed to determine the correct amount of stolen firearms.
Ammunition was not stolen.
“It’s very concerning cause you don’t know who might have the handguns—what they might be used for. Or if they are out on the streets. Kids could get a hold of them. It’s a very big concern for us,” Ashville detective Jeffrey George said.
Authorities said the hardware store also was burglarized about a year ago, and firearms were taken during that crime, too.
Detectives continued to investigate and were reviewing surveillance video from area businesses.
