Man Convicted After Marine Refused To Be Robbed

AKRON, Ohio - A man has been convicted of attempted murder in the shooting of an Ohio Marine during a holdup last year.

An Akron jury also found 21-year-old Breshaun Nichols guilty Monday of other all other charges, including aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

Purple Heart recipient Richard Dawson of Springfield Township outside Akron testified he was about to fill up at a gas station last June 13 when Nichols pulled a gun and demanded money. Twenty-five-year-old Dawson said after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, he wasn’t about to be robbed so he refused.

Prosecutors said he was shot in the stomach and that Nichols tried to fire a second time but the gun jammed.

Nichols did not testify. He faces up to 42 years in prison when he’s sentenced June 24.

Whatnext - you are SOOO right! here is a MAN who paid his dues over seas for our country to come home here to deal with this crap! I’m very proud of him for standing up for what’s right. I’m also very thankful that it didn’t cost him his life though! Semper Fi!
