Party Plan Goes Awry After Pair Robbed By Former Classmate
Published: November 23, 2009
TAMPA—This could be a birthday Daniel Lowery remembers, but possibly not in a good way.
Lowery, 20, and Jessie Kielmann, 19, pulled into the parking lot of the Motel 6 in Bradenton about 12:15 a.m. today with a pocket full of cash, intending to get a room to celebrate Lowery’s birthday, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.
They saw someone they remembered from high school and as he approached their car, they said they had $400 and asked if the former classmate wanted to party with them, the sheriff’s office said.
He did not want to join them.
Instead he pulled a pistol and relieved Lowery and Kielmann of their party funds, then drove away in a red Lexus, the sheriff’s department said.
The two followed the robber but lost him at the intersection of State Road 64 and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.
