Police Catch Suspect Minutes After Newark Robbery

NEWARK, Ohio—A bank robbery suspect was apprehended minutes after police said he robbed an East End bank.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

A white male who is in his early 50s walked into the Park National Bank at 1008 E. Main St. at about 9:21 a.m. Thursday.

The male gave the tellers a note that demanded cash. The tellers complied, according to Newark police. 

The suspect fled the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Bank security and Newark officers detained the suspect in an area east of nearby Miller’s Essenplatz at 9:27 a.m.

Authorities were not releasing any additional details immediately.
