CPD: Suspect Shoots Man During Robbery Attempt

A man is shot outside his North Side apartment early Friday, and CPD continues to investigate.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police continued to investigate a shooting that occurred near Cleveland Avenue and state Route 161 Friday morning.

NBC 4 gives you the FAST FACTS.

Officers were called to two locations just after 5 am on a report of a shooting. Those calling 911 told police someone had been robbed and shot and was on the lawn of an apartment building. 

Police and fire personnel located a gunshot-wound victim on the 5500 block of Palmira Way on the city’s North Side. 

A man approached 23-year-old Quan White outside his apartment, displayed a handgun and demanded property, according to the police report. 

The two struggled, and White was shot, police said.

The suspect fled the scene on foot. 

White was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was listed in stable condition.

The suspect was described as a black male with a light complexion. He has red, braided hair. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds.

CPD continued to investigate.
