COLUMBUS, Ohio—Detectives were looking for a person of interest after a man’s body is found in an SUV 20 hours after the shooting is reported.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Northland Arm apartments on the 4600 block of Tamarack Boulevard around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The body of an adult male was discovered in a black SUV in the lot.

The victim, who was in his 40s, suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Police said a firearm was found in the SUV with the body.

Police later identified the victim as 47-year-old James A. Davis.

An NBC 4 crew was reporting live from the scene of a SWAT standoff on Rockcastle Drive near Morse and Karl roads Tuesday morning.

A woman walked up to the crew and asked for a cell phone shortly before 6 a.m. She told NBC 4 her husband, Davis, had been shot in the head. She called 911.

The woman led police to a nearby parking lot, but it wasn’t the one where Davis’ body was found.

“They couldn’t locate anybody. They couldn’t locate the victim. They didn’t see this vehicle. They couldn’t find anybody around here. Nobody heard anything,“ CPD Homicide Sgt. Dana Norman said.

Detectives said Davis was the victim from yesterday’s reported shooting.

The SUV with Davis’ body was removed from the scene and taken to the coroner’s office before 7 a.m. Wednesday

Police continued to search for the woman who asked to use the crew’s cell phone. Police would like to question her about the incident.

“She’s definitely a person of interest that we need to find and talk to,“ Norman said.

Police were not releasing the woman’s name currently.

Anyone with information on the shooting or the woman’s whereabouts was encouraged to call CPD at 614-645-4545.

James Davis was a HOT MESS. He had 20 yr old girls running up and down our street when he would not let them in his $400K+ home. We has MANY reports to Dublin Police for shots fired and he was picked up a kabillion (ok, I’m exaggerating) times for driving w/o a license and drugs. He locked girls in his basement, and they had to break out… and this girl… WAS NOT HIS WIFE. Maybe he had a fondness for blondes, as all the ones I saw were.. but she did have the whacked out look in common. Drugs.. duh???????????? Good riddence.

I live at the Apartment building where This SUV And Body was found. I do know for A FACT that yesterday during daylight hours that SUV & Body Was NOT here in the daylight hours!!! I personally was between this building and the office several times not to mention the Maintence staff and all the comings and goings of all the other dope dealers. No one saw anything because itwasn’t here in the daytime. If so how and why was the Victim found in the passinger seat. Shot in the head, good chance he didn’t drive to the final location. The Right questions are NOT being asked and the total crime in this area is ridiculous!!! From Morse & Karl to Karl & Red Robin then east to Tamarack and then back down towards Morse is A WAR ZONE and the punchline is…..there’s a POLICE SUBSTATION on the corner of Morse & Karl. I ,in the past year have called CPD many times to report drug activity in progress and to no avail! Also this Complex [Northland Arms Apts] knows of the crime and drug activity and yet it does nothing also we even have our own useless security that seems to run for cover when the bullets fly around here. Can’t move or I’d be breaking my lease and what would it matter anyway because now all of Columbus is A WAR ZONE. I’ve even had a police dispatcher tell me on the phone that resources wouldn’t be used due to BUDGET CUTS. What Budget Cuts!!!! Friggin’ Coleman already extorted Columbus to supposedly bypass cuts to Police and Fire. Everyone arm up and practice sighting in,because CPD isn’t looking out for US at all!! There too busy fighting over who’s going to get Coleman’s Cushy 3 man detail gig. Are Vigilante’s the next step towards a Safer Columbus? Sign Me Up I’m a real good shot! How many times do you need to report on going crime if they [CPD] doesn’t show or want to show. Then What I Ask? Yet i will remind other citizens to really listen to scanamerica and listen to CPD in action [even though it’s censored and sometimes you can’t hear ALL of what is really going on] but there’s to much crime and not enough response on CPD or Higher Ups in the Coleman Camp. I guess Mr. Mayor is too busy womanizing to REALLY WORRY about HIS voters, it doesn’t revolve around $$$$$$$$$ so Mr Mayor does NOTHING….par fro the course in Columbus!!

Very weird story! Is she stoned? She sure looks like it! Where did she go after the police left her the first time? Why didn’t they take her seriously enough to keep looking or hold her for something? Too many questions!
