UPDATE: CPD releases new information after a motorcyclist was in a fatal, hit-and-run crash late Wednesday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio—Columbus police continued to search for a hit-and-run suspect after a motorcyclist was killed late Wednesday.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Columbus Police are looking for a driver after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the city’s East Side overnight.
CPD said 23-year-old Thomas Dicenzo of Columbus was driving his 1994 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on East Broad Street, approaching the intersection of North Gould Road.
An unidentified white or light-colored, two-door, compact vehicle was traveling eastbound on East Broad Street close to 10 p.m.
An unidentified vehicle turned northbound on North Gould Road in front of Dicenzo, causing him to crash his motorcycle, CPD said.
Investigators said Dicenzo might have struck the rear, passenger-side corner of the unidentified vehicle.
The driver fled the scene prior to police arrival, CPD said.
A second crash happened when another vehicle swerved to avoid Dicenzo, who remained in the road. That vehicle hit another.
Dicenzo was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was driving a white Chevy Cavalier, according to witnesses.
CPD continued to investigate, and anyone with information was asked to call 614-645-4767.

BuckeyeRob - the main issue I think is that even stone cold sober people often just do not see the motorcycle coming toward them. Something needs to be done to make them more visible - like a pulsating bright light on the front.
Tommy was such a dear dear friend to me, in the short year that he was in my life he changed it completely in so many awesome ways. What a life to be taken. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
I have considered getting a motorcycle many times but stop every time I see one of these stories. I agree the penalties should be much more harsh for whoever is at fault but the reality is, the motorcycle driver usually dies or becomes disabled to some extent. I don’t know if Thomas was wearing a helmet but I see so many guys (and their passengers) not wearing any protective gear. Very scary.
Just turn yourself in; you’ll probably get a $100 failure to yield ticket. That’s all us motorcyclists’ lives are worth apparently.
my heartfelt sympathy for the family and friends of Mr. Dicenzo. I agree fully with the comment posted above concerning Barclay square. I would almost guarantee the “driver” of the vehicle had no license insurance or was inebriated. As a resident of Bexley, i have full confidence that the police department will catch up with this scum. My understanding of cases like this, the max penalty for aggravated vehicular manslaughter is only 5 Years.
Another motorcyclist dead due to an irresponsible car driver.
I worked with Tommy and who ever did this please turn yourself in so the family can have some kind of closer you will be greatly missed buddy my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family from me and all of us at ovcs we miss you
Police probably should focus first on likely destination of the hit skip vehicle - Barclay Sq. Apartments. I wonder if anyone makes a bright laser like flashing light that I have seen on some school buses. That would sure make a motorcycle more easily seen.
if the car is found and the driver denies knowing who was driving no charges will be brought. thanks to ohios hit skip laws someone has to be able to id the driver or they tell on themselves. i was a victim of the same thing and on a motorcycle. i saw the passenger and the plate fell off the car but the owner denied knowing who drove and no one saw the driver and this news station did a story on it and that is what ron obrien said. this needs to change, since the owners are held respocible for read light camera tickets. its about the city getting money. it happened last summer and the story was done around the time the drunk ran the two people over in the short north at restraunt if anyone wants to see it. it was a nbc 4 investigates story i think in june.
Jaguar - how the heck do you do that with the blue box?
