COLUMBUS, Ohio—Local police released surveillance video and asked for the public’s help to identify a carjacking suspect and locate a stolen vehicle.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

CPD said the carjacking happened at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Easton Town Center on the city’s Northeast Side.

A 35-year-old woman was getting into her parked vehicle on the lot near the Barnes & Noble at 4005 Townsfair Way.

A suspect, who was armed with a hunting knife, approached the woman, police said.

He allegedly threatened the victim and demanded money, but she honked her horn and yelled for help.

The suspect pulled the woman from her vehicle, police said, and left the scene with her vehicle and belongings.

The stolen vehicle is a silver 2003 Toyota Avalon with an Ohio license plate of DPK8180.

Anyone with information was asked to call CPD’s robbery squad at 614-645-4665 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).

Correction - To all you “nice” people.  I am well aware of the law regarding concealed carry.  I admit I didn’t fully read the article and realize the woman was pulled from her car. I would definitely have fired on him if necessary.  I must say that I would defend myself, no questions asked, if necessary.  However, if you don’t have a gun, in this same situation, what would you do?  I would honk the living heck out of my horn to draw attention to what was going on.

To all of you that so “nicely” decided to rail on me for stating that deadly force is very serious, thank you so much for your input.  I hope it made your day.

LMAO-You guys are going to hate me. Now that suspect could possibly have this womans info from documents in her car. I just recently took all info from my vehicles. If I get pulled over I will inform the police why I did this. I suggest you all do the same. A little extreme I know. Another example. You might know the story. Guy steals woman car here in Columbus. The guy gets the info of the woman, drives to dayton, kills the woman and molestes her kid, and drops him off at a reststop on 70. This isn’t the same world we grew up in. Sorry.

To Laurea-You are allowed to protect your property with deadly force. Even if its just your vehicle. If a guy pulls you out of your car(kidnapping-moving you without your permission)If this would happen to “ANY” of you. I would step in. Ever hear of the story of the lady that got carjacked in Cali with her baby inside. I’m not going to take that risk. I will spend my time in jail. But, I do have a great lawyer in the family. Im sure I will be fine. He “IS” going to bring this guys credability to the front and any family members that step up. I do not “WANT” ot kill anyone and pray it never happens but I will if it comes down to it. Everyone take care of yourselfs lets all work together. The good will always trump the bad.

read my comment again. I didnt say I would shoot the guy, It would depend on him, but me, I would get out of my vehicle, call the police, stay in the distance. But if he came at me and tried to pull me or my girlfriend with my 1 week old baby boy out of our car, Brother I’m putting 2 in a tight pattern “dead” center in his chest. I am fully aware of the rules for carry concealed. Blowing a horn, lol, really!!! Thats the laziness of all americans, just pick up your phone or use your kids phone. Like I said call the police. Isn’t that “avoiding deadly force”.

Just like that 70yr old woman did lastnight at the continent. You put lead in his chest and ask questions later. We need more people out the PROTECTING themselves. Then maybe these scum might think twice, but if not pop pop.

I would have felt life threating danger, which constitutes and authorizes use of deadly force. Blow the scum bag away, ask questions later.

The woman did the right thing by honking her horn even if she had a conceal carry permit.  The first rule is “avoid deadly force”.  If you are not in “serious, life-threatening” danger, you cannot brandish your weapon or you are “instigating” a conflict.

Not me, it’s the rules of concealed carry.

In the state of ohio, the only knives that are considered “Deadly Weapons” are Ballistic Knives, for the simple fact that it cannot be used as a tool. It’s meant to be used as a weapon. Any other knife can be used as a tool, and is not considered a weapon until it is used as, or threatened to be used as, a weapon.

I know this is really far fetched because of the “Left”.
Picture a city, any city that it is required by law that every law abiding qualified citizen carry a concealed weapon. Now it’s a law where the State at their expense trains you.

How much of this crime do you think we would have?? Think about it.

What did you do chowder? “honk”? call police? yell? call security? anything? so you know someone is attempting to commit a crime and….....
A knife is a knife. An assult knife is used in an assult. Do you have a particular type of knife you would like to ban wabofiur? If you want to ban my kitchen knives I would have to strongly oppose. Unless you prefer your chicken “bone in”?
