Police: Robbers Shoot Woman In Wal-Mart Parking Lot
Published: December 21, 2008
DAYTON, Ohio—Police say two men robbed a woman unloading purchases in a Wal-Mart parking lot Saturday in suburban Dayton, then shot her in the stomach.
Two men were arrested after an eyewitness followed the robbers in a car and called police to tell them where the robbers were driving.
The 28-year-old woman underwent surgery at Miami Valley Hospital where she was in stable condition.
The shooting happened at a Wal-Mart in Moraine in suburban Dayton.
Moraine police Detective Paul Guess says the woman was unloading purchases when two men approached her and demanded her purse.
Guess says the woman refused until she saw the gun. She was shot in the abdomen after she handed the purse over.

hi sugar, thanks for the follow-up. i guess you are well-qualified to rebut my comment as a retiree from there. being run out of Mexico now would seem to indicate the intent on keeping prices low/profit margin high.
as far as employees getting in trouble for reporting it,..would seem to indicate not wanting a legal issue. but policies such as this seems to give the ‘perpetrators’ that much more room to operate. this seems to go full circle in it’s rationale. I guess the only way to solve/prevent this particular crime, is to conceal-carry. prepare not to be a victim. and not leave what is best for your safety up to others to decide. peace everyone.
t@lkzcheap…HELLOOOO! Sam Walton is dead and the company is now run by someone brought up from Mexico. They no longer care about their employees, just the all mighty dollar. I recently retired from Wal~Mart and I never/ever saw an employee who wasn’t disgruntled. I will agree that while Sam ran the company, it was a decent place to work. Now it’s a h*ll hole. If a cart pusher did report an incident, they would be written up for it.
I believe while the economy is bad crimes like these will increase. Also concealed carry is increasing in Ohio which is lowering the pool of easy victims. I agree that being aware of your surroundings and people around you is also a requirement. I hope this lady makes a quick and full recovery and enrolls in a firearms class to get her license. To all who say a gun isn’t the answer I say then why do the police carry them (most also carry off duty).
as far as the NRA: it’s a needed organization. it’s in the Constitution as the very outset of this country. you begin to mess with that document,..it will change the whole game as it was 1st designed to be played. as i once read,...they knew what they were doing when it was drawn up. leave it alone.
as far as the ‘bad guys’,...i’ve never seen them go after somebody that has “one” also. that speaks for itself. they want an advantage to be a ‘playa’, feel good, and come out on top. the NRA has a team also…and them guys have a bigger ball to bring to the field. that organization isn’t the problem.
it’s personal ‘accountability’ that is the issue…. don’t need to look any farther than that. some people being ignorant shouldn’t change how the good citizens/people live their lives in a civilized society.
..and to CatInTheHat.
I have ‘never/ever’ seen a disgruntled Wal-Mart employee. Sam Walton’s philosophy was “take care of your employees”. and to me has obvioulsy paid off. i say a ‘cart-herder’ does have coverage. especially if the incident happened on /Wal-Mart property. and last time i checked,..their lawyers are good at getting things done. look at all the battles they win over ‘new stores’ coming in. My money is with the coverage they provide. that comment has no merit if meant as a substantial point-of-view. no offense levied here…peace. living right also means living smart.
To All: perhaps we need to consider what our feeling would be at the time of the incident. what each and every person doesn’t realize in these comments to me is: what is the best possible way out this right “now” for the person with a pistolo stuck in their side.
for me: ‘it’s i wanna go home and see tomorrow,..what happens to this guy has already been decided on by his own valition’.
he’ll suffer the consequences if at all possible at that time. i’ll tell my story to the judge and take my chances there.
and if the things turn out right….. society will be better off for it.
just yesterday in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart spending x-mas $..told g/f to look where you park. if somebody is near you when your car is by itself..why are they there? Paranoia…? ask the girl that was shot near her car. i feel for her big time. this isn’t utopia folks. pays to be vigilant…and paranoid till proven otherwise. everything else is best for politicians and lawmakers. i have no time to run it through the courts from my deathbed.
Ummm….bad guys keep guns…duh!! They tend to get them illegally….so why should I give up my protection? Aww..so the felonist that carry illegal arms can kill me. These individuals have problems….and it stems deeper than video games and drugs. I know a slew of individuals that participate in negative extra curricular activities, yet they would never harm a living being. My heart goes out to this woman that caved to the pressure of these bullies, yet still endured an attack!! :0(
Cat, thanks for your response. Naturally to have security in the parking lot is better to detour crime, and the presence of shopping cart attendees helps, not to stop the robber but to be watching or call the police if they see anything wrong. What’s wrong with this one is, she gave them her purse and they still shot her. This mentality appears to be coming from a video game influence and drugs. Certain video games and drugs are gateway opening for demonic spirits that need to be cast out.
Thanks pwhited, couldn’t have said it better! Poor Brenda doesn’t have a clue. Mr NRA what a hoot! I am a NRA recruiter & life member & I thought her reply was not even worth a reply from me. Good job sir…......Don/NRA
No Brenda, you CAN tell the good guys from the bad guys. The bad guys are the ones shooting a woman in a Walmart parking lot. The bad guys are kicking in doors and shooting unarmed homeowners who think that the police can protect them 24/7.
The good guys carry concealed and only pull their weapon if they are threatened by a bad guy.
See the difference??
