CINCINNATI—Police and K-9 units have searched a suburban Cincinnati landfill for a woman whose husband was charged with evidence tampering and obstruction after police said they found human remains in his house.

Delhi Township investigators combed the landfill on Monday after a judge ordered 30-year-old John Strutz held on more than $1 million bond. He had reported his wife, 28-year-old Kristan Strutz, missing over the weekend.

Police have not said if they found anything at the landfill, and prosecutors did not explain the charges.

Strutz’s lawyer, Simon Groner, said his client gave police permission to search his car and house and that officers seized four bottles of bleach that Strutz was using to clean his deck.

I agree with population growth comes more crime. Also with perceived economic and political unrest there are sharp rises too.  I just see this town and feel like no one has pride it. Like it has an identity crisis. But really are we really that far down the gutter that this stuff is just passe’? I saw on the news that murder suicide is a very marginal part of crime each year. My comment is that we have a heavier than normal share of it considering our population.

Well you can’t focus in on one year and say it’s getting worse.  A lot of it’s situational.  Our economy isn’t doing well and it’s shown that during these times suicide and crime rates go up.  As for MORE this year that may be true, but you also have to take into account that Columbus is a growing city so it only makes sense that we will see more crime.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re also seeing more of everything!  Traffic acidents, crime, babies born, hot dogs sold at the State Fair.  The question to answer has crime increased in proportion with the growth of the city or has it exceeded it?  I came from a bad part of town so maybe I’m jaded when it comes to these things.

While its true that life is cheap in 3rd world countries. And murder happens and will continue to happen.Im still very shocked with the amount of sadistic murder that has been happening as of late.Especially the amount of murder sucides how many this year so far? 6?  No I dont believe that murder was worse here even 10 years ago. One of my friends pointed out the fact that while Ohio has a lot of presidents that come from this state. There are also a lot of serial killers and sociopathes that come from here to. Very polarizing individuals seem to sprout from this fertile land. I dont know why either. It is just weird.

History shows for thousands of years there have been horrible violence and crimes of all kinds on scales we can’t imagine.  All this “We are getting worse"is not true.  This type of news is just a bunch of Schadenfreude and the ineternet just makes it more easy to access and spread around.  It was happening 30, 100, and 1000 years ago.  Go live in a third world country for a while and you will realize it’s not so bad here.  You will always have the nuts who make you THINK it is, but it’s not really as long as the other 99% of the population stays somewhat sane.

P.S. also. Im sick of people saying they made a “mistake” when they get caught. No one admits to being wrong or doing evil anymore. They only make “mistakes”. Which smacks of insincerity. No true guilt or apologey. But that is the criminal mind isnt it?

I am starting to believe we have raised and are raising generations of souless, socieopaths. No belief in anything but nihilistic acts and thoughts. At least when people were going to church they at least had some foundation of what was right and wrong.

HealthAdvocate - as my husband says, we live in a “me” generation where everyone is consumed with themselves and if they don’t like something, they get rid of it/them like this guy apparently did. Very sad. What’s worse, is like you say, there’s no change in sight except for it to continue to get worse.

It seems there is epidemic proportions of ‘sickness’ all around us.  No value for another human life.  Don’t like ya’ = get rid of ya’.  Here comes a downer - at least I feel very low because I can’t seem to figure out how to have a positive shift happen. I feel like if I don’t keep up with the ‘news’ and know what is going on that I would just be burying my head in the sand, so to speak, but this stuff is getting me down.
