Prosecutor: DNA Confirms Man Raped Reynoldsburg Child

COLUMBUS, Ohio—A county prosecutor says DNA tests confirm that a 4-year-old girl was raped by a man whose claims of innocence had caught the attention of a nonprofit legal clinic.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien says in court documents filed Tuesday in Columbus that a blood sample showed 37-year-old Charles Dumas did rape the child from suburban Reynoldsburg in 1997.

Dumas was convicted of the crime in 1998 and sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

The University of Cincinnati-based Ohio Innocence Project worked on his behalf for a time. The prosecutor and the victim’s mother approved of the testing.

What does 10 years to life even mean?  That after 10 years they will reassess the situation and decide whether or not to keep him in jail?

Ten years will go by in a blink of an eye.  Last year I went to my 20 year high school reunion…that 20 years flew by.  That is completely unacceptable -RAPE a 4 year old and then get let out when you’re 47 to do it all over again to some other innocent child (children)?

If you read more about the story from the Dispatch he claimed he was innocent right until they asked him for a swab from his mouth so they could test it.  He refused.  That’s when the Innocence Project dropped their appeal.

It’s proven he is guilty.  Why should this sick, worthless POS even be allowed to live until tomorrow??  If I was a parent of the child, he’d already be dead.

He did it and he still wasted the time and resources of the prosectutor’s office and supporting agencies as well as that that of the Ohio Innocence Project. He also victimized the girl and her family a second time with his lying.  I wish they could either add more time to his sentenceor fry this @sshole right now and save our tax dollars from taking care of him for life.
