I thought all you people would have the mental power to realize that everyone is free to have their own opinions. It appeas that more of you stuck up parents need to drive your kids to practice instead of sitting on the internet.
First off: hit and run schmucks should be burned at the stake. End of story.
At that intersection, it could be a person from any demographic imaginable, a poor, unlicensed construction worker, a Jaguar-driving business exec not wanting to deal with the hassle of what transpired, a college kid coming back from a marathon party still drunk, etc., etc., etc…. until they’re found and identified, you just don’t know.
Chico: why would a government body issue legal documents to people who are illegally here? If illegals (from ANY country) are issued driving permits, they would be reaping benefits without paying various income taxes that go for a myriad of expenses. If illegals have a choice between:
1) paying for licenses and identifying themselves as illegal immigrants
or
2) simply staying under the radar so they can keep making more money and not have to worry about paying fees,
they’re going to choose the second option. Many are here simply to make money to send home. I’ve worked alongside many immigrants from many countries. It was always about making the most money and having the least expenses.
To beautiful 1460: I am so sick of people like you always wanting to blame the parents!
I hope this teen fully recovers.
We don’t have any idea why he was out at 5:00 a.m. But if he was out because of a school function such as practice for something or whatever - for a good reason - are YOU going to thank the parents for being good parents for having a kid who does GOOD things????????
TALK ABOUT SOMEONE JUDGING…
MAYBE 1460 WAS SAYING GOOD JOB PARENTS BECAUSE THEIR KID WAS OUT AT 5AM.
THERE ARE A LOT OF SPOILED KIDS WHO DON’T SEE THE CRACK OF NOON DURING THE SUMMER TIME.
SPOILED AS IN….DON’T HAVE JOBS, DON’T HAVE TO DO CHORES, ETC.
MAYBE ITS A FLAW IN OUR STATE FOR NOT ISSUING LICENSES TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, WHO IF THEY HIT SOMEBODY RUN BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE A LICENSE, INSURANCE.
MAYBE ITS SOME BIG DUMMY TALKING ON THEIR CELLS, OR TEXTING OR ARE STILL BASICALLY ASLEEP ON THEIR WAY TO WORK
I hope this young man fully recovers and they catch the person that hit him. And for Beautiful 1460 comments…get all the facts before you made comments. There was a good reason this teen was out so early. and YES, they are good parents.
KUDOS to all you loving adults and incredible teenagers. I am so thankful to see all of the responses our children.
My thoughts are with the family involved. Should you need anything I pray you ask.
Had my 16yo son not overslept this morning, he would have been going through that intersection around that time. What would a 16yo be doing out at that hour? My son is a triathlete and would be heading to the gym for a swim workout. Earlier this summer, he headed out at 6am on his bicycle. Why that early? He rode up to Findlay and back (175 miles round trip)and wanted to make it home in time for Saturday evening church.
Just because a teenaged kid is out at odd hours does not mean they are up to no good.
The age of the person struck is of no matter. The driver of the car that hit them should have stopped, they would not have been at fault. It is possible that the driver had been drinking and did not want to be charged with OVI. Or possibly did not have a valid license or other legal issues.
One point, the article does say “16 year old.“
Now, we have no way of knowing if they were on their way somewhere or coming back from somewhere. Given it was 5am and a lot of school programs are starting up, these kids could have been on their way to a practice or something instead of out partying.
Regardless of the time, the kid was simply trying to get help for a roadside emergency. Why they were out at that time is moot, the driver that left after hitting them is a monster.
Why would a teenager be out this early in the morning? Some are going to work, some are going to class, or any other myriad of reasons.
And if he did sneak out….isn’t that what some teens do? Don’t adults sit around laughing about the things they did without their parents knowing? Don’t most best friends and siblings have secrets that may or may not have been the best choices?
Here is what I find…those that are so quick to blame the parents have more things to critique than they are willing to admit. But if you speak with them face to face you know right off…their true selves are generally quite obvious upon site. Loving, caring adults know child development, or behaviors, and work to keep children safe to the best of their abilities. That is why we put fences around pools, buy our teens Triple A, and bug them to death.
If this teen was doing something illegal I imagine he would have left the car and ran.
My grandmother says “you can’t put an old head on a young body”. We love them and we do the best we can to keep them safe. But they are still young.
