14-Year-Old Dies In Crash After Police Attempt Felony Traffic Stop

A juvenile suspect dies after authorities say four boys failed to stop for police and crashed into another vehicle.

BEXLEY, Ohio—A 14-year-old boy died after Whitehall police said officers tried to make a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle and the vehicle crashed.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

All of the following information was taken from a police press release.

Whitehall patrol officers saw a stolen vehicle at about 6:37 p.m. Saturday.

Whitehall officers in two marked cruisers attempted a felony traffic stop while on South Napoleon Avenue at East Broad Street.

The driver of the stolen car failed to stop when cruiser lights and sirens were activated, authorities said.

The suspects fled southbound on Napoleon Avenue and eastbound on East Main Street into Bexley.

The allegedly stolen vehicle went left-of-center in the area of East College Avenue and East Main Street and reportedly lost control.

The vehicle struck a silver Chevy that was traveling eastbound on East Main Street.

Three of the suspects were located at the scene of the crash. A fourth was located by police in a neighborhood just north of the scene.

The suspects were all juvenile males. All of them were transported to local hospitals with injuries.

A 14-year-old male was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m.

The driver of the silver Chevy was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

WPD continued to investigate the alleged receiving stolen property (auto), the fleeing from police, the aggravated vehicular assault and the aggravated vehicular homicide.

Bexley police were investigating the basic aspects of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was investigating the crash reconstruction.

No more immediate details were available, including identities or who was driving the allegedly stolen vehicle.
