Sheriff Issues Warning About Donation Caller

ATHENS, Ohio—A warning was issued Tuesday about someone soliciting money for bulletproof vests on behalf of a Central Ohio county.

According to the Athens County Sheriff’s office, someone is making phone calls soliciting money for the vests, NBC 4 reported.

Athens County Sheriff Patrick Kelly said he has not authorized any solicitation for vests and that before anyone gives money to the sheriff’s office, they should make sure the office is actually collecting money.

In this case, Kelly said, they are not collecting donations.
