Suspect In Fatal Shooting At Park Arrested

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Police announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month, and are looking for witnesses to come forward.
The shooting occurred at Mock Park on the city’s northeast side on the evening of June 14.
According to police, officers responded to 2520 Mock Road and found a 17-year-old Bernard Hawkins shot in the back of the head.
He was taken to OSU Medical Center in critical condition and with life-threatening injuries. He later died at 9:45 a.m. on June 16.
A second victim, an 18-year-old male, transported himself to OSU Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Police announced Tuesday the arrest of 18-year-old Virgil McClendon on existing warrants for felonious assault, adding that he is the primary suspect in connection with the murder investigation of Hawkins.
