COLUMBUS, Ohio— A teen who was found shot in a West Side alley more than a week ago died from his injuries Monday.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Wednesday.

A teenage male was found in an alley with a gunshot wound to the head, and police continued to look for clues into the overnight shooting.

CPD was called to Wayne Avenue, south of Sullivant Avenue, on the city’s West Side at about 10:13 p.m. Thursday, April 16.

Officers found 19-year-old Dominic Gaines in the alley at the rear of 2419 Sullivant Ave. with a gunshot wound to the head, according to a CPD report.

The House, which apparently is a tavern, is at that address.

Gaines was transported to Mount Carmel West Medical Center in critical condition.

An investigation revealed Gaines and an unknown suspect or suspects were involved in an unknown dispute before Gaines was shot.

Gaines was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. Monday, April 27.

Anyone with information on the city’s 26 homicide of 2009 was encouraged to call CPD’s homicide squad at 614-645-4730.
