COLUMBUS, Ohio—The man accused of drinking young boy’s urine has a new home for the next two months. Not only does his story make stomachs turn, it might soon change state law.

NBC 4’s Marcus Thorpe reported with the FAST FACTS.
Alan Patton has long been in the eye of the law enforcement.

He starts his first full day as an inmate in the Franklin County Jail Friday morning.

For Patton, it is one of 60 days in jail for his conviction of criminal mischief.

This is from an incident in Dublin in June when investigators say he put plastic wrap on toilets and cups in urinals to collect the urine.

A lot has happened since then.

Ohio Senator Jim Hughes introduced Senate Bill 58, which would make it illegal to collect bodily fluids from another without their consent. After several hearings before a committee, the bill passed the committee and moved to the Senate floor. The bill gained approval by a wide margin of 30-3.

The bill was tweaked to protect EMS and police agencies to ensure they could lawfully take blood samples for OVI cases and other instances.

The issue is expected to get a look in the Ohio House sometime in the next few weeks.

It’s a case NBC 4 has been following for years.

Alan Patton is the sex offender who was convicted of rape years ago. In 2006, he admitted to drinking the urine of young boys and told police that he’s been doing it for more than 40 years.

When Patton was sentenced in 2006, he was banned from public restrooms, and on June 14, 2008, he again was arrested for placing plastic wrap on toilet seats and foam cups in urinals of a men’s room at Dublin’s SportsOhio.

He was convicted in September 2008 of criminal mischief for that crime. Judge Anne Taylor imposed the sentence on Sept. 8, 2008, but delayed sending Patton to jail while his attorneys appealed her right to order a psychological evaluation of their client.

The Franklin County Court of Appeals upheld Taylor’s in March 2009.

Patton’s bond conditions were that he was confined to his home and was monitored by a GPS tracking bracelet.

Patton also was banned from public restrooms, libraries, pools, recreation centers or anywhere children were likely to congregate during that time.
