COLUMBUS, Ohio—Officials are asking for tips in a mid-day robbery on the city’s far east side.

The crime occurred at about 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, when two armed suspects entered the Shell gas station in the 5900 block of East Main Street, NBC 4 reported.

One suspect acted as a lookout at the front door of the gas station, while the other suspect held a gun to the head of the clerk, demanding cash.

The suspects took cash and fled the scene.

According to police, the clerk kept calm and wrote down the license plate number of the getaway car, but there is another layer of evidence to the crime.

“Now, once the suspects exited the Shell gas station, the female who was in the restroom came out. She was interviewed by police, gave her name, but when police came back out, she had disappeared. She had left,“ said Columbus Police Detective Gerald Milner.

Police said they discovered that the getaway car is licensed to the mother of 22-year-old Brittany Upthegrove—the same woman who was in the restroom during the robbery.

“It’s more than a coincidence and that’s why there’s an aggravated robbery warrant that’s been filed out of this particular incident, this particular robbery,“ Milner said.

Upthegrove is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall with a full build of approximately 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

She is believed to be in the Columbus or Lima areas.

One of the other suspects is described as a woman with a large build. She is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and is in her early 20s.

The third suspect could be a man or woman in their early 20s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a heavy build.

A $2,000 cash reward was offered for tips that lead to an arrest and or conviction in this case, and you don’t have to give your name.
