1 Dies, 1 Hurt When Vehicle Crashes Into Tree

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio—A woman was killed and a man was injured when a vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree Thursday night.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Troopers from the Marysville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called to the scene of a one-vehicle fatal crash at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

Juanita A. Johnson, 31, of Bellefontaine was driving a 2001 Kia Optima southbound on Township Road 56 when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Johnson and her 64-year-old passenger, Phillip E. Wilcoxon of Lakeview both were both ejected from the vehicle.

Troopers said neither Johnson nor Wilcoxon were wearing their seat belts.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County coroner’s office.

Wilcoxon was transported by medics to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.

The crash remained under investigation.
