Heroic Man Saves 2 Children From Fatal Fire
MARION, Ohio—Two children were killed and four others were injured in a fatal apartment fire early Friday afternoon.
According to the state fire marshal’s office, the blaze occurred at a multi-unit apartment building on Blaine Avenue in Marion.
Neighbors said a woman was crying out that her children were inside.
Greg Mark, who lives across the street, ran inside the home without hesitation and managed to pull a teenager and young child out of the burning home.
Unfortunately, he could not save everyone.
According to the Marion fire department, a 7-month-old girl and 3-year-old boy died in the fire.
Fire officials say the fire started in the children’s bedroom but still are investigating a cause.
A state fire marshal investigator says it could be weeks before the cause is determined.
Three other people were treated for smoke inhalation.
Four children and four adults occupied the apartment.
The fire remained under investigation.

Sprockets-
Please accept my apologize, I did not mean to come across hostile, I’m sorry…it’s just a very difficult thing that has happened in the Marion Community.
agirl134, I’m surprised at your hostility toward me. As you will see if you read my comment, I did say I thought there was more to the story. However, nothing you say really explains it either. I’d also like to find out whether the fire did indeed start in the children’s bedroom, and if so how that happened. I’m certainly not judging anyone when all I’m doing is asking for more facts. The story seems strange to me, that’s all.
Sprockets-
Maybe you should KNOW the whole story before you start judging. The fire started in the room where the babies were, the man who got the other children out were in another and he ATTEMPTED to go for them, but couldn’t….The firefighters tried as hard as they possibly could to get to those children, but couldn’t
So before you start judging a mother, think about what this poor lady is going through and how you would feel
From what I understand from neighbors that they didn’t get any of the kids out themselves. A very brave man from across the street got 2 of them out. I’m not a parent myself but I would die before I let any child of mine burn alive.
Why didn’t the mother manage to get any of her own children out? She apparently got herself out. Surely there is more to this story, because it doesn’t make a lot of sense that a stranger could do what she couldn’t.
Every time I read a story like this, where children pass away, my heart just aches.
I’ve got a two year old son, and I cannot imagine the panic, fear, and pain that those poor children had to go through.
Hands down to the man who helped save the two other children. Everyone needs one of those neighbors living by them. If only there were more unselfish folks like that man, the world would be such a better place.
Rest in Peace children.
Kudos do the man across the street who risked his own life to help a neighbor. The world needs more lime him.
I live just 3 houses down from where this fire took place and I just feel awful that those babies died. I was outside while this was going on and it was just horrible. I just hope and pray that they didn’t suffer too much.
