COLUMBUS, Ohio—Two Columbus City Schools were placed on a level 2 lockdown Tuesday afternoon.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Shady Lane Elementary & Sherwood Middle School at 1400 Shady Lane Rd. went on lockdown before 12:45 p.m.

The schools were placed on lockdown because there was a report of an armed male in the area.

Columbus police were called to the 4600 block of Boynton Place. The area is on the city’s East Side.

CPD said the caller said a man who has been living in the caller’s back yard had a pistol.

CPD didn’t find any firearm at the scene.

Columbus police cleared the incident, and the schools were taken off lockdown status before 1:30 p.m.

A level 2 lockdown means there’s no admittance in or exit out of the buildings.

There was a time a school on lock down would be a major shock…now, we just go on trusting it will all work out.

It is a sad state of affairs when we are no longer shocked by the headlines.
