2 Ohio University Football Players Indicted

ATHENS, Ohio—Two members of the Ohio University Football team are facing charges of receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence. 

On July 27, 2009, the Athens County Grand Jury returned an indictment against 19-year-old Travis Carrie from Antioch, California and 22-year-old Corey Moncrief of Jackson, Mississippi. 

Carrie is accused of having a stolen computer in his possession that was originally stolen from the Ohio University on April 19 and having programs on the computer destroyed. 

Carrie entered a plea of guilty to an amended indictment charging one count of misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Property. Carrie is accused of having a stolen computer in his possession which was originally stolen from Ryors Hall on April 19, 2009, and having the programs destroyed.

Carrie was sentenced to 180 days in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. 178 days were suspended on the condition he be a law abiding citizen for two years and that he immediately begin serving his two-day jail sentence.

Carrie was also sentenced to 100 hours community service and to pay a fine of $150.00 and the court costs.

Moncrief is accused of having a stolen computer in his possession on May 26, 2009, which was stolen from the Monticello Building. He is scheduled for arraignment on August 13 at 10 a.m.

Both cases were investigated by the Ohio University Police Department.
