NEWARK, Ohio—A young boy was hit by a vehicle Thursday morning, police said.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

A 4-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle in the area of Locust and Church streets, according to Newark Police Sgt. Barry Connell.

The accident happened in the roadway.

The child’s father was present at the time of the accident.

The vehicle’s driver and the father attempted to transport the child to Licking Memorial Hospital. They made it a few blocks before calling 911, and a medic met them to transport the child.

The child later was transported Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The child’s condition was not available immediately.

The accident remained under investigation.
