4 Lockdowns Lifted After 2 Suspects Caught

UPDATE: Precautionary lockdowns at four Westerville City schools are lifted Friday afternoon.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio—Four Westerville City schools went on precautionary lockdowns Friday afternoon.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Westerville South High School, Blendon Middle School, Longfellow Magnet and Whittier Elementary went into precautionary lockdowns close to 2 p.m., according to the district superintendent.
The precautionary lockdowns were lifted close to 2:45 p.m.
Westerville police called the district with a reported area robbery, the superintendent said.
The Westerville Communications Center received numerous calls reporting an armed robbery in Allen’s Coin Shop parking lot. That was at 1:28 p.m. Friday.
Callers said the victim ran into AIlen’s Coin Shop and the suspects were running northbound on the bike path at the rear of Westerville South High School, according to Westerville police.
Officers responded to the areas of Allen’s Coin Shop and the bike path.
The schools went into a precautionary lockdown while officers searched for the allegedly armed robbery suspects.
Officers made contact with a witness who said the suspects were seen running into an apartment on Cresent Avenue, police said.
Officers went to the apartment and knocked on the door. A female answered the door and immediately told officers the persons they were looking for were in her basement.
Officers went to the basement and found both suspects and the clothing they were wearing during the robbery. Both suspects were arrested and the gun used was located, according to a police report.
