Car Warranty Schemers Prey On Vulnerable
Published: May 11, 2009
COLUMBUS, Ohio —Some telemarketers are trying to scam you out of money by calling your home, saying your car warranty is about to expire and if you don’t sign up the offer expires.
The Better Business Bureau says these schemers are operating with a sense of urgency and preying on the vulnerable.
It’s a scam that’s not only affecting central Ohioans but people across the country.
The Better Business Bureau offers this advice: never give out personal information to an unknown telemarketer.
When considering an extended service contract insist on getting a contract in which all the terms and conditions are spelled out before giving your credit card information.
Also, read your manufacturer’s warranty and contact your dealer so that you’re not purchasing duplicate coverage.
If you think you may have been scammed contact the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General’s office.
