Grocery Store Set To Return At Brice & Livingston
Valu King Comes To Reynoldsburg
NBC 4's Candice Lee reports on a new retailer that's taking over the former Big Bear den.REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio—Big Bear groceries pulled out of Central Ohio almost six years ago, forcing families to drive the distance to shop, but things are changing in Reynoldsburg as a major retailer plans to take over one of those abandoned Big Bear dens.
“I usually have a friend take me to the store over on Refuge Road and Hamilton,“ explains Michelle Alford.
Families living near the abandoned Big Bear grocery store at Brice Road and East Livingston Avenue describe what life has been like since the store pulled out in 2004.
Giant Eagle now plans to put its discount food chain Valu King in the western side of the 101,000-square foot building. It’s a deal almost six years in the making for the city of Reynoldsburg.
Why did it take so long?
“It’s an extremely large building. The number of tenants that need and want 100,000-square feet are somewhat limited,“ Reynoldsburg Mayor Brad McCloud said.
The store is expected to create 45 full- and part-time positions. It is set to open this summer.

This is quite good news, since if the food chain Valu King do their business here, there will be 45 full- and part-time positions that will be open for the unemployed community of Reynoldsburg. This will surely help more families who are struggling hard to earn income, and it might avoid them to further taking payday loans. Hopefully, the people nearby will patronize the food chain, so that the business transaction will run smoothly and further secure more jobs to its people. Good luck!
