COLUMBUS, Ohio—Thirty-two young people from all over the country are riding to promote awareness and raise money for groups such as Habitat for Humanity.
Denis De Verteul, from Columbus, is taking part in the 4,000-mile bike ride.
“We’re all here for the same cause—to fight for affordable housing, raise money, raise awareness and to bike America,“ she shared.
Bike and Build is a nonprofit organization geared to helping people get into affordable homes.
The group works with organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, one day a week and spend the other six days of the week trekking across our nation.
The group began its trip in Boston two weeks ago and will end up in Santa Barbara, Calif., by August 20.
So far, the group has netted $150,000 and helped to build houses in New England and New York.
Bike and Build’s next stop is 55 miles west of Columbus in Yellow Springs.
