COLUMBUS, Ohio —Every once in a while, people need that extra boost of confidence, and Ohio State students entering the job market received just that Sunday.
The Ohio State University held its 388th commencement ceremony Sunday afternoon.
In the midst of high unemployment numbers and a questionable economy, The Ohio State University President Gordon Gee told students to dream, and dream big.
“If you cannot dream, you will not achieve it. Never, never let a bigoted remark stand,“ Gee said.
Kevin Brett, a psychology major at OSU, has job interviews lined up in New York and Columbus next week.
Brett said he is optimistic about his chances and hopes other students who are still looking for employment won’t give up.
“You have to keep trying, keep applying. Put yourself out there and network,“ said Brett.
The keynote speech was delivered by John Glenn in front of tens of thousands of parents and family at Ohio Stadium.
As part of his address, Glenn said, “And in this stadium remember the teams and outstanding individuals who played here ... and now you, just like the OSU teams will represent The Ohio State University. To you, the class of 2009, make yourself proud, God speed, and to each and everyone of you, Go, Bucks!“
